It takes a village: Mini Gingerbread houses!

Nothing quite says “Holidays” like the smell of gingerbread cookies baking in the oven. When Sweettablescapes got a huge order for some gingerbread cookies (see here) to be given as favors at a holiday party, we figured it would be nice to also make some special cookies for an annual Cookie Swap!

So with the help of this very convenient cookie cutter, IMG_0001(bought a couple of years ago at a discount store) we cut multiple little shapes to create an adorable village of gingerbread houses. To the mini homes, we added giant ones made with these cutters IMG_0006from Fancy Flours. They come with stencils which allow you to make some very elegant facades…

Once baked and decorated, our houses made the perfect centerpiece on our foyer chest of drawers:
